Today we started asking ourselves, "What went wrong?" It's a question I ask a lot.

More specifically, we approached the question:
"What were the causes of the Stock Market Crash of 1929?"

Good luck studying for mid-terms. Below you will find a link to the review sheet!

Reminders:

Your mid-term will be a Paper 1 on the Imperialism Era and a 45 minute Paper 2 style essay.
You will have five different essay questions to choose from.

To do well on this essay you will need to bring in SPECIFIC AND DETAILED historical knowledge. On the review sheet, I've given you a list of identifications from each chapter, which indicate that these people/events/ideas should be brought in as evidence when writing an essay that falls under that topic.

We discussed the issues I'd asked you to address in your writing response which was homework over the weekend, and began watching PBS Nova's presentation (hint, hint, it's a link if you wanna watch the whole darn thing):

Judgement Day: Intelligent Design on Trial

Homework:

Reading, (hint, hint, this is a link too)
"Were Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti treated fairly by the American justice system?"
You only need to read the first Viewpoint: Sacco and Vanzetti were denied a fair trial and were executed because of prejudice against foreigners and anarchists.

Be prepared for a short quiz next class.

Complete a Writing Response, Due Monday
Compare and Contrast the article you read last class with this viewpoint essay:
  • What new information did you take away from this viewpoint essay?
  • Did it succeed in changing your own viewpoint on the Scopes trial?
  • Do you thik the societal divide revealed by the Scopes trial still exists today? Defend your answer.

Shoot for approximately a page of writing. It does not need to be formal.
