Homework:

Read, Viewpoint Essay: "The power and the purposes of the fundamentalist movement have been misrepresented and oversimplified by historians," by Thomas E. Woods Jr.

Here's the link to the Thomson-Gale article. This article has two different complete viewpoint essays included. You DO NOT have to read them all. Just the first.

Complete a Writing Response, Due Monday
Compare and Contrast the article you read last class with this viewpoint essay:
  • What new information did you take away from this viewpoint essay?
  • Did it succeed in changing your own viewpoint on the Scopes trial?
  • Do you thik the societal divide revealed by the Scopes trial still exists today? Defend your answer.

Shoot for approximately a page of writing. It does not need to be formal.
