F Period-
Today, we delved into the topic of American Imperialism.
We first asked ourselves, "What is imperialism?"
Then we took a look at some nifty documents giving some insight into what lay behind the imperial impulse... We discussed the continuing influence of the American belief in "Manifest Destiny," Social-darwinist explanations of the superiority of the Anglo-Saxon race, and the economic push to find new markets for American goods.
